Rather than taking pictures constantly, I really wanted to soak up the culture/atmosphere, so I only took pictures a few times. The hotel was a small little oasis in the middle of the city center. I apologize to most of you viewing, as I know you've seen most of these pictures on FB. However, not everyone is my FB "friend," so I am repeating a bit. Additionally, I want the blog to capture pieces of our adventures all along the way, so...
The little gym was outside in the courtyard.
Lots of little seating areas all around the property.
And more seating...
Our room was directly behind the pool on the 2nd floor.
Karinthip apparently means elephant, thus the elephant with wings statue out front.
The open air front desk...
Above right is the little side street that led from the hotel to a slightly larger road. On the left were little shops, but were closed when I took the picture.
One of many open air restaurants in Chaing Mai. I thought the green drink Sergey has tasted like medicine, but he liked it.
One of many Buddhist temples that we visited while wandering around the city. Visitors can stay for free in Buddhist temples. There are lots of young boys who are novice monks. Many are orphans while others are from small villages, and their parents send them for an education.
Two little birds in the small container. Letting the birds fly away is supposed to be for good luck.
More views of the temple/monastery. All sorts of animals were on the property, and I'm sure there were some that I didn't see! Thankfully, I'm sure. :)
I can't even escape camels while in Asia!
A view into the monastery...
A sample of some street food.
The river down the middle the street had rats scurrying about. Yuck, but really, they weren't bothering anyone.

oh my gosh ive always dreamed of going to thailand. You are living an amazing life! So happy for you and your son!!!!! We are hopefully returning to china in a couple years for Lilyanns homeland tour, which will include tours all over china. I hate flying, so I am not sure how I will handle that, and leaving my other kids home, but we want to do it for her. What a great trip...can't wait to see where else life takes you!
ReplyDeleteYou lead a rather amazing life as well, Michelle! Leaving the other kids will be hard, but I know you'll leave them in good hands...I really struggled with leaving my furry baby. Of course, she was absolutely fine and happy when we returned. Will you take Miranda with you, or only Lilyann? I'm sure that will be quite the adventure. A friend of mine lives in Tiajing, outside of Beijing, and her stories are always so funny! I remember your pictures from when you picked up Lilyann vividly. Guangzhou, right? Or maybe Guandong? Wow--I guess that was quite a few years ago now...I will look forward to seeing lots of pics of Lily's 'homecoming.' By the way, I have no idea how you take care of all of your babies...and home school them too! :) Would you have ever thought back when we first met? Incredible.
